Project Overview

The project involved designing and developing a handheld garbage collection tool specifically for municipal cleaning operations. The product features a broad scoop-like collection area and an ergonomic gripping mechanism, allowing workers to pick up waste without bending down or touching it directly. The design was optimized for ease of use, durability, hygiene, and economical injection-moulded production, making it suitable for deployment across municipal sanitation teams.

Customer Requirement

Municipal sanitation workers regularly collect litter from roadsides, public spaces, parks, drains and other areas. Manual collection of small waste items can be unhygienic, physically uncomfortable and time-consuming, particularly when workers have to repeatedly bend down or come into direct contact with waste. The objective was to develop a simple, lightweight and economical garbage-picking tool that could make routine waste collection faster and more hygienic for municipal workers.

Our Approach

A dedicated plastic garbage picker was developed for municipal cleaning applications. The product provides a scoop-like collection surface that allows waste to be picked up and contained without requiring the worker to directly touch the waste.
